The Foundation for Everything You Build

Concrete slabs are the workhorses of your property. Whether you need a floor for a new garage, a pad for your shed, a surface for your HVAC unit, or a base for a pole barn, a properly poured concrete slab provides the stable, level platform that everything else depends on. It's not glamorous work, but it's absolutely essential, and doing it right the first time prevents problems down the road.

We've been pouring concrete slabs throughout West Lafayette and the surrounding areas since 2024, and we've learned that the difference between a good slab and a great one comes down to preparation. The concrete itself is important, but what happens before the pour matters just as much. Proper grading, a well-compacted base, appropriate thickness, and strategic reinforcement all contribute to a slab that stays level and crack-free for decades.

What We Pour Slabs For

Concrete slabs work for all kinds of residential and commercial applications:

  • Garage floors: Whether you're building a new garage or replacing an old floor, we pour level slabs that handle vehicle weight and daily use.
  • Shed and storage building foundations: A solid concrete base keeps your shed level and prevents settling that can cause door and window problems.
  • Equipment pads: HVAC units, generators, pool equipment, and hot tubs all need stable, level surfaces that won't shift or sink.
  • Pole barn floors: Large slabs for agricultural or storage buildings with proper drainage and thickness for equipment.
  • Basketball courts and sport areas: Smooth, level surfaces for recreational use with proper drainage.

How We Build Slabs That Last

Site preparation starts with proper grading and excavation. We remove topsoil and organic material, grade for drainage, and create a stable subgrade.Base material comes next. We install and compact layers of gravel to create a stable, well-draining base that won't shift or settle.

Reinforcement depends on the slab's use. For lighter applications, wire mesh works fine. For garage floors and heavy equipment, we use rebar. For very large slabs, we may recommend both plus fiber reinforcement in the concrete mix. Thicknessmatters too. Standard residential slabs are 4 inches, but we go thicker for garages (5-6 inches) and commercial applications.

Need a foundation for new construction? That's a specialized type of slab work that we also handle, with additional depth and reinforcement to support building loads.

Getting the Drainage Right

Water is concrete's enemy, especially in West Lafayette where we get significant rain and freeze-thaw cycles. Every slab we pour includes proper drainage planning. For outdoor slabs, we create a slight slope so water runs off rather than pooling. For garage floors, we slope toward the door so water doesn't collect inside.

If you're dealing with an existing slab that has drainage problems, we can help. Our concrete repair services include solutions for sunken slabs, poor drainage, and water infiltration issues.

Commercial Flatwork Too

We handle commercial projects including warehouse floors, loading docks, sidewalks, and parking areas. Commercial work often requires thicker slabs, specialized finishes, and coordination with other trades. We've worked with contractors throughout West Lafayette on projects ranging from small retail spaces to large industrial facilities.
